Stay

The main building of Wakatsuki Yoshida Okuizumo is a single residence — a 150-year-old former village headman's house that we have taken on. Welcoming only one party per day, the main building consists of shared spaces including the Franco-Japanese restaurant "Wakatsuki Saryō", and the private suite "Honan".

Capacity: Up to 4 guests

(1 King-size bed + extra bed)

A private suite hosting one party per day, set within a 150-year-old former village headman's residence. Passing through an anteroom set with an Izumo magatama, you reach a bedroom of unfinished wood flooring, a private lodge overlooking Wakatsuki Saryō, and a fully private semi-open-air bath. With the windows opened, the indoor bath becomes one with the outside air, turning into an open-air bath; outside, a reclining pool and terrace await. Soaking in the bath while gazing at the night garden and surrounding mountains — a luxury reserved for a single party only.

About the Facility

The main building comprises the shared entrance, the Franco-Japanese restaurant "Wakatsuki Saryō", and the private suite "Honan". Because we welcome only one party per day, the entire building is yours to use at your own pace.

On the entrance ceiling, an installation evoking an "inverted water surface" — a motif drawn from tatara ironmaking. With old beams, lime-plaster walls and Sekishū tile roofs, the spatial design carries the memory of Yoshida — once a company-town of iron and flame — and speaks gently of the land's time.

To honour the time of letting yourself surrender to the memory of the land, we have intentionally pared back excessive equipment and overstated hospitality. As such, there are no televisions or fixed phones, and only the essential equipment has been retained. Rather than the "pursuit of comfort" offered by global luxury hotels, Wakatsuki has prioritised the "creation of space" — letting the senses of body and mind move toward the land of Yoshida and Okuizumo.

For any needs, please use the reception at the entrance or the dedicated phone connecting to our staff.
